Broadway Chicago Show Tickets For The Hit Musical

The musical, Chicago, was revived for performances on Broadway in 1996. As of December 31, 2006, the musical has had 4,210 performances on Broadway, making it the eight longest running musical, but the fourth longest currently running musical, in the history of Broadway. Based on a play of the same name by Maurine Dallas Watkins, then reporter of the Chicago Tribune, it tells the story of two very public trials of the day. Chicago is the story of Beulah Annan and Belva Gaertner, accused for murders in Chicago in 1924.
First performed as Chicago: A Musical Vaudeville, on June 3, 1975, the show was about glamorization of criminals, turning criminals into celebrities, and about the world we live in.
The Broadway revival of Chicago – the Musical, was directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking. The musical, which opened on Broadway on November 14, 1996 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, was highly acclaimed by both, the audiences as well as the critics. After nearly a year’s run at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, the show moved to the Shubert Theater and had its first performance there on November 2, 1997. Its successful run continued at the Shubert Theater for more than 5 years, until January 26, 2003. The musical then moved on to the Nederlander Organization owned Ambassador Theater, and started entertaining audiences from January 29, 2003, onwards.
